hello, I hope you're having a good day <33 I saw your recent post on my dash and I was STUNNED at the animated scene! It's insane to me I get to see your characters animated. Feeling blessed to be alive to see it, I am not exaggerating. You know, one of these times where you wake up and things are a little bumpy in your life but there's one thing that shines brightly you didn't know it could give you so much excitement? Yeah, that kind of thing ((:

I took my time for the past hour to reminisce over your blog again. It is one of the places I really love scrolling through and reading your writing. I had a question, if you don't mind me. The way you have improved is truly admirable. I know this might not be an easy ask to say "hey, how did you learn how to paint", so I'll ask this instead: I don't know how long you've been working full-time in art, but when do you make time for studies / drawing for fun? If it's not too much to respond to, how do *you* study? I remembered your posts with your redlines and wanted to ask how do you go about those, or if you switch your routines based on your needs (sketches vs speed painting backgrounds etc). The notes there were very interesting, seeing the mental exercise.

I'm glad the animation made you feel better! I'll put the answer under the Keep Reading thingy.

I'm not entirely sure... I think I don't study as much as I should/could. I mostly learn as I go. Standalone studies are helpful, I'm just drawn to doing things that are more fun/satisfying to me or things that actively progress my creative goals. Imperfect illustrations for my stories, and incomplete research for worldbuilding! Many people learn faster than I, and those people do a lot more studies than I, but I have no info on whether they have more fun than I. Dopamine is rocket fuel, so it's important. :)

I'm always on the lookout for reference pictures, but I study almost only when I have a practical goal in mind, I guess. Studying is part of my job too, I think? As an indie concept artist I'm supposed to build a hoard of references and pull several new/sensible things out of them, and I think part of this process is understanding the material, and revisiting even what I already know. Illustration is similar. If I'm commissioned to draw an anthro alligator, it's time to study gators. It's not separate from work.

I mean, straightforward version: I wake up at 03:30, make coffee, and start working for myself until the paying work starts, lol. Brain is fresh before noon, and tired late in the evening just like everyone else's. It also helps that the city more or less shuts up at 4am.

The studies with the redlines... I do them when I fancy drawing characters or creatures but feel out of shape. I can get discouraged, feel like I forgot how to draw. I sketch if I plan to sketch, and paint if I plan to paint or want to study colors Drawing live models helps. Studying videos of people and things in motion. Hopping down rabbit holes about how/why things work (e.g. flintlock, Davy lamp, mansard roof). Drawing from refs. Hoarding refs. Trying different mediums (e.g. charcoal, 3D, etching). Small screenshot of one of my ref boards for the animation; I'd say I studied it a lot. How clothes move, what are good clothes, how do good clothes move, lion/tiger + human + eagle anatomy (from specific angles during specific motions if/when possible), how to dive roll, proper sprinting form, how to survive falling from a great height, spearfighting, pole vaulting, poledancing, lighting, colors, environment, kicked-up sand in motion, spear types, emu/cassowary/griffon vulture feet, etc. I didn't draw studies, unless you count the animation itself (I would).

I feel like Val is the type to get his lil pet hella hooked on some drug(nothing too debilitating…maybe) to the point they absolutely can’t leave him cause he’s able to get the purest most refined version of it and they can’t handle less.

Getting to the point that they just give up running and just start finally settling in to the pet role, or so he thinks, when he realizes they’re just constantly doping up to avoid him in their own little world. Always conveniently high off their horse during the times he usually wants to be pampered and loved by them and he’s just like “oh, well alright cunt if you like that shit more than me-“ just fucking instant cold turkeys them. Watching them get their withdrawal meltdowns and promising them just scraps to get whatever he wants. Snuggles, kisses, lick his nutsack just whatever cause he knows they’ll be desperate enough. Only to snort and grin as they look at him so pleadingly and cute and he tells them what a pathetic job they did, using any outburst as an excuse to… get rough with em.

Wrap them up, give em a lil time out or maybe set them up with a lil buzz toy to work out that frustration and give them a new distraction to get through the painful withdrawals. Only cooing at their pleading and licking up the drool from their chin.

Oh no absolutely is this something I've thought pretty intensely about. it's pretty implied in the Addict music video that Angel is addicted to whatever drug is in Valentino's cigarettes. when he is dancing but looking anxious, Valentino blows the smoke directly in his face and he goes from anxious to feeling more motivated which is probably deliberate on Val's part and also im pretty sure that unless this is just music video pizazz that Valentino has some sort of powers which would check out since dead sinners having powers is already established wirh Alastor

and in Angel's room there are cigarettes that are varying stages of being unfinished implying he's trying to stop and he actively acknowledges through the lyrics "there's another rush of poison flowing into my veins, giving me a dose of pleasure that resides by the pain" and it's pretty clear that on top of being abused and being an addict he's also just trying to use drugs to cope with everything he's going through

So ABSOLUTELY have I thought of everyone's favorite to hate scumbag pimp taking advantage of any weaknesses or addictions Reader may have and I personally can contribute my own personal experiences to this since I have a genetic predisposition to getting addicted and have had problems with alcohol and controlling my habits myself.

I can see it now. You're all in the limo and Valentino is smoking, Angel and a few others are too, and the Overlord looks over at you and laughs because you're smoking a joint and just starts openly mocking you for "that loser little kid shit" (even though I would stake my life that Vox would love getting stoned and gaming out and probably does so). You just kind of shrug him off, saying you're fine with just weed, but Valentino can't help but notice you're drinking too. You'll sit there, toke, sip, toke, sip, until you're a little loopy and feeling good, at your preferred level of euphoria, though there's been a few times you've just straight up fallen asleep in his limo from doing too much too quickly and Angel or one of the dancers had to jostle you awake.

Valentino doesn't see you hang out with anyone. He never sees you around town. As far as he knows, you work your shifts and only leave your rented room to get food, bathe, or run errands. Most of the times he sees you, you're stoned and or getting stoned, and there's been more then once that some catty little poledancer or whomever didn't like you whispered in his ear that you've been stumbling around drunk.

I've thought of it going one of two ways: he gets you high by force, or you ask him for it. Can you imagine it? You've been smoking weed but it just isn't the same, either your tolerance carried over from your human body or perhaps you've just been doing so much you built it back up anew, but now, one of the only things that brought you joy and calmed you down isn't working as well anymore, and you're having to spend more and do more and you'll cough your throat raw and still not feel 'how you want'. This high isn't how you remember it feeling before, so do more until it feels good! It is legitimately such a helpless feeling when you start leaning on a substance for comfort and you notice the efficacy wearing off. There's a sense of fear and desperation in it, that 'your only way to be happy' isn't working. And you start wondering, maybe I should try something else, something different, something stronger?

Val's been watching you and having his employees secretly keep tabs on you and you're all at the club and you're sitting near him and you look down at your last joint that's almost finished and you still feel miserable before glancing up at him with these big sad eyes and gestures to his cigarette, "so what's even in those anyway?" And he just smirks and hands it to you, "see for yourself, baby"

Or like, the same scenario but inverted from another perspective, Val can tell you've been smoking like a chimney to the point maybe you're even paying rent late because you're spending so much on your vices, and even if he can't immediately identify why, there's something that gets under his skin at seeing you all sad and gloomy. I wouldn't put it passed him to offer his cigarette to you and you refuse, and he pushes harder for it, trying to essentially pressure you into doing it until you cave, before just grabbing your chin and shotgunning the full capacity of his lungs straight into your mouth while you hopelessly fail to try to push him away

Either way, once the drug settles, you're just sitting there all 😊 smiling and giggling and engaging, overflowing with dopamine, all but melting into the sofa or limo custom you're sitting on while you play on your phone or listen intently to one of your boss' stories from when he eas alive, which always boosts his ego when you listen and you're like "wow that must have been so scary 🥺" and making him feel all big and tough, and maybe he can even convince you to cuddle a little. What, he's not touching up on you or anything, you can't just sit beside him? He can't wrap one of his arms around your waist and just hold onto you while he's on his phone? I mean, drugs and alcohol, scientifically proven, activate a specific part of your brain, and our brains favor the more primal feelings over rational thought which is why drunk and high people can act erratic and shit. So you're sitting there feeling all hot n buzzed n horny and suddenly Oh, big Mr Valentino has his hand on your thigh and is teasing you, hitting on you a little bit, and the mindset of "fuck that man something NASTY" is overpowering your usual rational thought of "GIRL BE NICE TO HIM SO HE DOESNT HURT YOU BUT OTHERWISE DONT EVEN LOOK IN HIS DIRECTION"

Valentino just lowkey making you a sex addict because he gets you high and gives you mind shattering orgasms 😩❤️ I imagine this would be extremely effective towards those of us that have lived more isolated lonely lives lol. The first morning after he fucks you and your new favorite drug has worn off, he can tell you're embarrassed, barely making eye contact with the man you had said some reeeeal freaky stuff to in bed (which he LOVED lol but he'll tease you for it just to watch you squirm). He'll pull you close, putting his hands on your body, purring in your ear, "what do you need from me, baby?" with the smell of his cigarette ghosting over your skin with the heat of his breath and you shudder and he knows, he knows you're going to be his new favorite toy

This is another weightloss question, I hope you aren't sick of them yet 😅

I have been around 70-75 kilos most of my adult life (I am mid 30s now). At the start of this year I weighed 110 kilos. I've lost about 6 kilos this year (I used to think through diet and exercise but after your post now I'm not so sure). About 10 years ago I started gaining weight, a few kilos every year. I think this was because around then I got a bad injury from poledancing and an injury from running at the same time that had me on the couch most of the day. I actually enjoy physical activity but I've noticed that with every additional kilo it seems that I get more and more injury prone. Every time I tried to start exercising again I would injure myself after a week or two and had to stop almost all activity, even when being guided by a physiotherapist. At the moment I can't do more than a gentle walk or very light strength exercises that are heavily adapted. All I want is to do my favorite sports again, running, poledancing and horseback riding. But my doctor actually told me I'm just to heavy for running and poledancing, the impact of my weight is damaging me. As for horse riding, I can tell my horse has trouble carrying me and I decided to stop riding because of this. It seems like all my aches and pains and constant injuries are because of my weightgain, my doctor keeps telling me so too. Everyone keeps telling me the answer is to lose weight if I want my life back, but now I don't know how anymore. I used to think (and my doctor said so too) that diet and exercise were the answer, and it gave me hope. But if it really isn't possible to lose more than a few percent of your bodyweight then does that mean I will just be in pain and unable to do the things that make me happy forever?

I don't know what to do anymore, I want to stop feeling pain in my joints and having trouble getting up from a crouch. I want to ride my boyo again and not worry I'm hurting him. Hell, I want it to not be so awkward to wipe my butt! Please, if you have the answer, tell me what I need to do.

i made a friend on the walk from the parking garage who was a momo bias & she was so cute & sweet we exchanged instagrams & then when i got to my seat it was all girls in my row & we were just all chatting & so excited. everyone i was with was jeongyeon biases so i was surrounded by good taste 😹 & one of the girls was giving out these little charm bracelets she made with the member's name's on them. i got one that said chae

the girl sitting right next to me also was soooooooooo pretty & nice we were dancing the whole concert & she kept looking over at me & smiling & i wanted to be like ma'am STOP or i'm gonna fall in love with you 😭😭😭 (i got her instagram too) 😹

& THE SLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the performances were soooooooo good the talent in twice is insane!!!!! every girl got a solo stage & they were insane....... momo poledanced, jeeongyeon played the recorder, chae & dahyun played instruments too it was so good 10/10 one of the best nights of my life

Roxana Kodraj, born near the city of Frankfurt in Germany, always wanted to get out of her home town life. Berlin was her city of choice where she started studying biochemics. Even though some guys didn't took her seriously, thinking she couldn't be clever enough for this subject, just because she's a pretty girl. She dived down in the city's nightlife, getting to know a guy she immediately felt in love with and ended up in a very violent, addictive relationship. He ended up in prison, while she was left traumatized. A friend of hers comforted her after that period, advised her to do something crazy, brought her into poledancing which lead Roxy to work in a stripclub. Knowing that noone is allowed to touch her unless she allows it, getting back control over her body and by that her self-confidence... She didn't knew what was yet to come when her ex-boyfriend got out of prison.

MAJIMA JOBS

besides being yakuza for most part, majima has done the odd jobs every now, & again. this helps bring in extra disposable income, he definitely does less random jobs though as when he becomes head of his family, & it becomes established ( which is considerably massive ), he probably won't make anything short than one billion JPY per year ( ten million in USD ). though, he is still ceo of certain businesses such as his construction company, & owns the kamurocho hills which he also makes regular money from.

anyway, onto his jobs for when he was a bit more dependent on them for the extra cash.

GRAND

majima would have made a bit of money from the grand, being its manager, but he preferred to not take too much as he was required to make one hundred million JPY, so he only took enough to be able to feed himself, buy cigarettes, & pay his rent at the one room apartment he had at the time. he really did not make a lot working at the grand. a lot of his uniform was provided to him, as a tuxedo is not something majima would have ever cared about wearing himself.

CLUB SUNSHINE

this is the place majima can start making a bit of money at, it's a failing cabaret club which majima got pulled into helping out, with his experience as manager of the grand, he is able to bring it up to the top. he manages to get a good bit of pay per night that he help runs this club, & is able to live a bit more comfortable in sotenbori. this is a job he just ups & leaves however when he is able to become yakuza again, which leaves the staff worrying about his sudden disappearance.

as majima is back into being yakuza, & is rising through the ranks again, he does have less reason to work, but still, he's not exactly making bank, & since starving himself of some fun over the past four years, he does start to get a taste for the more expensive things in life, so realises he needs to do extra jobs if he wants to keep this lifestyle going.

whilst kiryu talks to him when he's playing the role of goromi, he explains some of the extra jobs he's been doing over the years. they are all quite shady jobs. the ones i'll mainly talk about are the ones that seem like they are big earners for him. & no, the goro-chan merch did not likely sell well at all, this is just him being vain, & probably trying to pull off a j-rocker image or some shit like that.

TRUCK CUSTOMISATION

he likely has worked with cars too, but this is actually something he's somewhat decent at, it's something he also probably enjoyed a lot, since he is left with only one eye, he cannot really legally drive anymore, but being able to work with trucks, & cars, customising parts, giving them new paint jobs, is something that likely gives him joy. he probably does overcharge for this service, but he's good at it since he has managed to customise all the trucks he has in his construction company later to a baby pink colour, as well as modified the steering wheel, & gears.

IN-GAME GOLD FARMING

this literally means he has played some MMORPGs, likely with using bots under multiple accounts, so he's been involved with real money trading for gold in these type of games. which provided he knows what he's doing, he can make a load of money just off of this if he picks the most popular MMORPGs he can find. some of his bots will likely get banned doing so, but he can just make more accounts easily, or move onto different games to exploit.

he mentions he's done a little bit of everything, so he's likely done a bunch of other shady stuff that can earn some money, definitely some illegal stuff. one of the jobs i personally headcanon that he might have done was piercing, he has likely opened a piercing studio at one point, although, not that illegal, but he likely did not care to get proper training in it, & just used knowledge that he has from various weapons similar to the tools he would use for piercings. & he has likely done poledancing for some extra cash as well.

later on, once his family is actually established, he does leave the tojo clan, but decides to start up his own construction company which he is ceo of, he makes a start on the project kamurocho hills which he decides to take the land that purgatory was once on in order to do so. this project takes quite a while, & he is even still working on it as he once again joins the tojo clan.

once the kamurocho hills is completed, majima is the proprietor which does mean that any business that wants a store there, or any company that wants office space will have to pay so much rent per month in order to have it towards majima.

One year blog anniversary today, so I'm throwing all the plots, ideas as a celebration at you😅

🌊 The moment when they noticed each other's ghost wings & probably comforted each other as Jack was surely not THAT drunk and Rozy was concerned whenever if she's that insane

🌹 The. Reunion. After. The. Armageddon. 🥺

🌊 Just them being happy, having fun, dancing, little acrobatics to impress, always switching who leads.

🌹 Sleepovers on the other's ship! Rozy trying to teach him meaningful Hungarian phrases, Jack stubbornly trying to braid trinkets into her short hair, literally doing each other's makeup and ending up falling asleep in the same bed. Strangely with nothing raunchy happening

🌊 Jack catching words of an another mythical treasure and this time he invites Rozy to join and not just because her swordfighting skills might be needed-

🌹 No concept of personal space, yet she doesn't flinch away reflexively & actually perfectly comfortable with his presence.

🌊 Jack proposing for once they just take a walk in the town without her skewering anyone for one day & chaos ensures along with their wild fun

🌹 Because the stark difference in their walk as Rozy's is similar to a proud soldier's from behind she gets mistaken for a marine soldier and praised for catching a pirate. She has never been more insulted in her life. Jack is laughing hysterically.

🌊 Based on the little reactions and from what she has carefully told him, Jack is aware that she is a victim of horrendous assault and adjusts his pace to hers. If something that crosses the term ‘friends’ happen, he's double checking whenever she's alright with it or not.

🌹 This man is too beautiful. She's drawn to him despite hindered by her traumas, her first gestures are careful, gentle with the wonder of doing all this for the first time in her life.

🌊 Jack both saw her smile the most along with her tears. He never even thought about making light of it, instead offered wordless comfort or distracting her with a silly story

🌹 Rozy probably saved his life on many occasions, from hanging, from the supernatural; which would be interesting if it happened the reverse as well as she's ...not really counting on him to rescue her

🌊 Jack being surprised at her ability to read people, not because he underestimated (he's never the one to make that mistake) but going by what he had seen & how she deals with others (swiftly and fatally). So he didn't suspect how great she is in that regard, only when she carefully prods at his defensive walls as he definitely hid his traumas very well, yet she seems to know exactly what and how to say for him to crumble.

🌹 He probably made out with Ferenc and Jácint at the same time. Rozy was definitely watching until a convenient moment to announce her presence.

🌊 Jack 💯 crashed Rozy's and James' @ashortdropandasuddenstop serene almost date with that highly inappropriate comment. He learned enough Hungarian to understand what she's yelling after him🤣

🌹 After that, the two decides to occasionally torment the poor Admiral at the same time.

🌹 When she's queen, a visit is incredibly welcomed and to his question “Was this what you fought for?” she will answer with a tight hug; no. This is an another prison, although a much more pleasant one. He is also given amnesty everywhere she rules with the condition of not going near the coronation jewels or the Véghváry family sword. She created a safe haven for him as the movie showed he definitely not comfortable in Shipwreck Cove where he presumably grew up.

🌊 Jack's modern verse clashing with her College one where she lives a triple life as student-cage fighter-poledancer & he's the one to put it together. And probably to find her injured.

things i watched yesterday:

zola: the way I was somehow shocked about the way it talked about tumblr more than anything else, I'd forgotten there was a time when people were just on here, like a social media site. all the acting was amazing, but especially colman domingo to me, who gave straight man performance so good that I struggled to recognise him. fascinatingly funny, at times when you really wouldn't have thought that was possible. (since this isn't a real review i can also go ahead and say this is a much better depiction of sex workers than fckn poor thi- gets shot by people calling me sexist for hating that movie). the bit where it dissected body parts and johns' faces was giving so much. ohhhh I could watch the poledancing scenes forever

also the queer undertones between the two leads, the way there are men around them, but they're increasingly unimportant, or, in fact, unimportant from the second they set eyes on one another

kamikaze hearts: from actors giving performances as sex workers to sex workers giving performances as candid interviews -- this was sooo [alters chemistry]. I've been getting really into the way that queer cinema blurs genres as part of its ethos. it's something that immediately reads as queer semiotics. this one is about real-life porn actresses who are dating each other, and it could have just been a documentary (it's unclear exactly what's "true" and what isn't... like the way porn is both untrue, but also depicts "real" sex... it's a great way of telling the story).

some reviewers on letterboxd took a lot of umbrage at the way trans women were described and I do get that that can be a personal deal-breaker (the use of the term "real women"), but it's 1986 and while these people may have been hostile towards trans women, that's not actually a tell so much as a very outdated bit of terminology. to be clear, it is transphobic, but it isn't out of the left field for a developing understanding of good language practice, unfortunately. the real shame is that there are no trans people in the movie itself to give more context, but the mention of a "film that is nearly only transsexuals" as a throwaway comment is a moment of insight into how common trans peoples' (and I would hazard especially trans women's) presence in the porn industry has always been. I do get it, I've had personal deal-breaker moments, but I don't think it's a useful way of analysing the film as a whole, nor the people who are in it

they're doing heroin at the end and it's real, so is it a documentary after all? they met on the set of a porn movie that we see a short clip of, so is it a documentary after all? its opinions on the porn industry are real, so is it a documentary after all?

basic instinct 2: oh what a terrible movie, but not for the reasons I think people called it a terrible movie at the time (well ok, also for those reasons). mainly it's terrible because the early 2000s were an intensely unsexy time for film. bad bad haircuts, awkward costuming, hamfisted dialogue and delivery, and over-saturation abounds. but this movie has david morrisey, hugh grant, indira varma, charlotte rampling, and david thewlis in it so I kinda had to, legally. also because I was curious

I feel like some of this inspired the format of hannibal the tv series more than actual hannibal. trash. oh I enjoy trash so much, especially if actors are giving 100%
